Reviews
Reviews can be a good introduction to independent academic work. They require an intensive examination of a scientific position and the elaboration of arguments. A short summary of the content, a description of the structure of the publication and the reproduction of central arguments should definitely be part of a review. A review should be comprehensible to all interested readers, even those who are not directly familiar with the subject matter. A generally comprehensible presentation and clear language are therefore desirable. The classification in a research field (i.e. related questions) as well as the connection to other publications on the topic can be part of a final evaluation of the reviewed publication; especially for students, however, this step is not yet absolutely necessary for an eisodos review. We therefore recommend that people who are still hesitant to submit their own contributions to eisodos try their hand at reviewing. We in the editorial team are happy to provide support. For examples, we refer to the online review journal Bryn Mawr Classical Review.
If you yourself – e.g. in a seminar or in your research – become aware of a publication that you would like to review for eisodos, please let us know. We will then endeavour to obtain a review copy for you from the publisher.
Currently eisodos has the following review copies. If you are interested, please contact us by e-mail (herausgeber@eisodos.org):
